Hello. My name is Charlotte Cushman. I am a retired Montessori educator with an AMI diploma from Lena Wikramaratne, a friend and colleague of Maria Montessori. I taught for over 40 years, and co-owned and operated two Montessori schools. I authored Montessori: Why It Matters for Your Child’s Success and Happiness, Effective Discipline the Montessori Way, Your Life Belongs to You, and Save Montessori from Social Justice. I, along with other Montessori teachers and parents, am very concerned about the direction in which the Montessori world is heading. Teaching children that skin color or race determines their character will have a devastating effect on their self-esteem and their view of the world. The Montessori Method is a wonderful, successful educational system. We need to protect it and preserve it for the child and our future.
